AHEC Recruitment and Retention Community Model
Visit texasruralcountyhealth.org for more information.
An AHEC approach to workforce development from the community’s perspective. The ARRC Model engages the community in health workforce planning with the goal of creating a stable health workforce and the long-term success of the community in meeting its health needs. This in turn impacts the economic health of the community.
This approach to workforce development helps the community to:
- Address their critical health workforce needs with recruitment activities such as listings on Texas Health Match, AHEC Professional Corp, and community development training in effective recruitment strategies. (Practice Entry and Support)
- Implement effective retention strategies such as AHEC Professional Corp, practice management technical assistance, professional development opportunities, and community engagement.
- Develop an active collaboration with academic health education programs to bring appropriate students to their community for educational rotations and bonding to their community. (Community-Based Education)
- Develop the pipeline with the community assessing their needs using AHEC resources such as Implan and other tools, growing the community’s future health workforce by engaging in our classic health careers promotion activities, and other activities such as scholarship/loan repayment strategies.
