The Sun and Your Skin

This activity helps children understand what the sun’s rays do to their skin and why it is so important to wear sunscreen. Students will learn about UVA and UVB rays and how each type affects our body. Students will then get to experiment with and see the power of UV rays by making their own UV bracelets. When exposed to UV rays, whether it is sunny or not, the white beads on these bracelets will turn bright rainbow colors. The stronger the UV rays, the brighter the beads will get! This activity is popular at all grade levels!

This is an in-class activity.

Please allow one hour for this activity.
